Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE®)

WHAT IS TRE®?
TRE® (pronounced "TEE-are-ee") is shorthand for "Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises," a set of six physical stances and movements that facilitate the body's own natural return to balance following upset. The cause of imbalance might be anything from everyday worries, stresses, and tensions to chronic or acute anxiety - even, at the far end of the spectrum, trauma.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
TRE® allows the body to return itself to balance by safely and gently releasing tension held in the muscles. It is controlled, through self-regulation by the practitioner, who uses a series of simple exercises she is taught to activate a natural shaking reflex in her own body. As tension is released in the body, the brain notes a reduction in pain signals, and the body's natural healing process is activated.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITS OF TRE®?
Reduction of stress-related symptoms are usually reported within the first few sessions. They consistently include a reduction in anxiety and chronic pain, with improvements in sleep quality. People who use this technique regularly have also reported reduced anxiety around serious illness and other chronic medical conditions, increased energy and endurance, reduced anger, greater emotional resiliency, and an increased overall ability to thrive.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM TRE®?
Anyone! The shaking mechanism in the muscles is part of our natural behavior as humans, and so is easily taught and learned. No special equipment is required, and a TRE® practitioner controls the pace of his own recovery. Exercise modifications can be made for those who are physically challenged.
